The class is based around the experiences the students are having. There is a direct correlation between material talked about in class and every day interactions.

Class Trip To Verona, Italy

The interactive, discussion based classroom allows for open conversations about day to day interactions students are observing.

Every morning the class begins with "story time" where home-stay students share what they were cooked for dinner or other interactions they had with their host families. Dorm students share stories of their dining hall experiences. The conversation usually leads to the socialization students have within the city of Padova, whether that would be in the Piazza, ordering coffee, or maybe a spritz after a long day.

Wine Tasting At Zyme Winery

As mentioned before, there are many field trips! This past summer the course took 9 trips or excursions during the 4 week course. They range from visiting a vineyard for wine tasting, hiking through the Dolomites, visiting Verona, and seeing behind-the-scenes of a nation wide organic food company. These trips allow students to be fully immersed in the Italian culture.

The education of this class does not solely happen in the BU building. Often times lecture material goes more in depth of the food/culture/interactions students witness in day to day living.
